The Goldbergs was originally a radio show on NBC from 1929 to
1946. The program made the switch to television as the first
sitcom. Both the radio and TV shows were devised by writer-
actress Gertrude Berg who played Molly Goldberg. The series
ran on CBS-TV until 1951.

BARBARA RUSH IS 84 TODAY
Stage, film, and TV actress Barbara Rush made her screen debut
in the 1951 movie The Goldbergs. She won the Golden Globe
Award for Most Promising Newcomer-Female for her role in
1953 science fiction classic IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE.
