Dr. Jonas Salk, the medical researcher behind the Polio Vaccine. He spent his last year’s searching for a vaccine
against HIV. Dr. Salk died in 1995.

Congress, on this date in 1919, passed the Volstead Act, also known as The Prohibition Amendment. This was over the veto of President Woodrow Wilson. 

The first issue of the weekly magazine was in March of 1923.
