Jack Benny was eager to break into the new medium of radio. In 1932, after a four
week nightclub run, he was invited onto a radio program hosted by his friend Ed
Sullivan, uttering his first radio spiel "This is Jack Benny talking. There will be a
slight pause while you say, ‘Who cares?’’ With Canada Dry Ginger Ale as a
sponsor, Jack soon had his own radio show, The Canada Dry Program, which
began May 2, 1932 on the NBC Blue Network.
