Paul Albert Anka was a teen idol in the late 1950s and 1960s with hits like
“Diana”(1957), “Lonely Boy”(1959) and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”
(1959). He wrote the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson
and one of singer Tom Jones’ biggest hits, “She’s a lady”(1971) and the
English lyrics for Frank Sinatra’s signature song, “My Way”(1969).
Inspired by a high school friend, Diana reached number one
on the Billboard "Best Sellers In Stores" chart in 1957 and has
reportedly sold over 9 million copies.
