La Bamba is a 1987 American biographical film written and directed by
Luis Valdes. It stars Lou Diamond Phillips as Ritchie Valens. The film is
based on real life events of the young rock star and his family. In its
opening weekend,La Bamba grossed a total of $5,698,884 and
eventually grossed $52,678,820 in the United States in 12 weeks.
