In early 1956, Buddy Holly, along with local guitarist Sonny Curtis and
bassist Don Guess (Jerry Allison couldn’t make the trip because of
school) took off for Nashville and Decca records for Buddy’s first
official recording session.

With producer Owen Bradley, the Thursday, January 26, 1956 , three-
hour recording session yielded four tracks, among them was Buddy’s
debut single, “Blue Days, Black Nights”, backed with “Love Me”, written
by KDAV deejay Ben Hall.
