Eugene Bertram "Gene" Krupa (January 15, 1909 – October 16, 1973)
Krupa was a jazz and big band drummer with Benny Goodman and Tommy
Dorsey. He went against his parents’ wishes of him joining the priesthood
to pursue a music career instead. In 1978, Krupa became the first drummer
inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame.
