Charles Eugene "Pat" Boone was one of the most successful
pop singers during the 1950s and early 1960s. According to
Billboard magazine, he was the second biggest charting artist
behind only Elvis Presley but ahead of Ricky Nelson and The
Platters. Boone sold over 45 million albums, had 38 Top 40 hits
and appeared in more than 12 Hollywood movies. He is a Gospel
Music Hall of Fame member and continues to perform today and
is a motivational speaker.
“April Love” was written as the theme song for the 1957 film
of the same name starring Pat Boone and Shirley Jones. It
became a number-one hit for Pat Boone in December of
1957 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best
Music, Original Song.
