The original Beat The Clock show, hosted by Bud Collyer, ran on CBS
from 1950 to 1958 and on ABC-TV from 1958 to 1961. The show had
several sponsors during this time, with the longest standing being the
electronics company Sylvania. Other versions of Beat The Clock aired
until 2003. In 2013, the show appeared in TV Guides list of the 60

Cool here, and I would have to say for a Spring morning that is a little on the cool side. To our PDX Retro readers this morning…..Any idea on why Bud Collyer made such a “super” game show host on “Beat The Clock” from 1958 to 1961? Post your answers here or check back tomorrow for the correct answer!

Cool here as promised with the answer to my question, “Why did Bud Collyer make such a super game show host”? Bud had the distinction of playing the part of “Superman” on the radio from 1940 to 1951.
