American Indian Pocahontas married English colonist John Rolfe at a church in
Jamestown, Virginia. Reverend Richard Buck, a Chaplin of the first session of
the Virginia General Assembly, presided their wedding. Pocahontas was later
known as Rebecca Rolfe. They had a son named Thomas who was born on
January 30, 1615.
John Rolfe contributed greatly to the early development
of the American colonies. His success as a farmer had a
significant financial impact.
