AUTO PROTOTYPE UNVEILED ON THIS DAY

On January 17th, 1953, the 1953 Corvette was officially unveiled to the public at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City during GM's Motorama event. - Corvette Action Center

On January 17, 1953, a prototype Chevrolet Corvette sports
car made its debut at General Motors’ Motorama auto show
at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The Corvette, named for a fast type of naval warship, would
eventually become an iconic American muscle car and
remains in production today.
