(Fox News) – Archaeologists in Egypt have unearthed a 2,200-year-old gold
coin depicting the ancient King Ptolemy III, an ancestor of the famed
Cleopatra.

The coin, which bears the image of the King on one of its faces, was
discovered during the excavation of a large Greco-Roman building at the
San El-Hagar archaeological site in Northern Egypt.

Ptolemy III ruled Egypt in the 3rd century B.C. Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities
says that the coin was made during the reign of King Ptolemy IV in memory
of his father. Ptolemy IV
reigned from 180 to 145 B.C.

The Ministry explained that archaeologists also found pottery vessels,
terracotta statues, bronze tools, a stone fragment engraved with
hieroglyphs and a small statue of a ram at the site in the Nile Delta.

The value of the coin has not yet been revealed.

(Fox News) – Archaeologists in Israel say that they have found
a clay seal mark that may bear the signature of the Biblical
Prophet Isaiah.

The 2,700-year-old stamped clay artifact was found during an
excavation at the foot of the southern wall of Jerusalem’s
Temple Mount. In ancient times a seal stamp, or bulla, was
used to authenticate documents or items.

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) –  Archaeologists have pinpointed what they think
is the exact spot where the Pilgrims lived in the years after landing in the
New World.

Every American schoolchild knows the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth in 1620,
but exactly where has been elusive.

Archeologists from the University of Massachusetts Boston tell The Boston
Globe
they have discovered what is believed to be part of the original
settlement, based on the discovery of a calf’s bones, musket balls, ceramics
and brownish soil where a wooden post once stood.

UMass-Boston professor David Landon says the discoveries are compelling
evidence that a sliver of the original settlement existed at what is known as
Burial Hill.

The curator of collections at the Plimoth Plantation says the discovery will
"absolutely change what we understand about that settlement.”
