SINGER PAT BOONE IS 81 TODAY

 

 

Charles Eugene "Pat" Boone was born in Jacksonville, Florida.

Singer, actor, and writer Pat Boone was a successful pop singer during
the 1950s and early 1960s. He sold over 45 million albums, had 38 Top
40 hits and appeared in more than 12 Hollywood movies.

According to Billboard, Boone was the second biggest charting artist of
the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley. He attended three colleges
before graduating.



"Moody River" is a number-one Billboard Hot 100 song from June
of 1961.

Author and cartoonist Theodor Geisel wrote forty-six immortal children’s books
under the pen name of Dr. Seuss. His most notable works include The Cat in
the Hat
(1957), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1957), and Green Eggs and
Ham (1960).

In his early adulthood, he attended Dartmouth college, where he became the
editor-in-chief of the school’s humor magazine, the Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern.
