IN THE HALL OF FAME ON THIS DAY IN 1972

      Robert L. "Bob" Douglas (November 4, 1882 – July 16, 1979)

Bob Douglas was the founder of the New York Renaissance basketball
team. Nicknamed the "Father of Black Professional Basketball", Douglas
owned and coached the Rens from 1923 to 1949, guiding them to a record
of 2,318-381 (.859). He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a
contributor in 1972, becoming the first African-American to be elected.

Steve Roland "Pre" Prefontaine
(January 25, 1951 – May 30, 1975)

Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, Prefontaine was a long-distance runner who
set seven national records before an untimely death in a car accident. He
played football and basketball before discovering cross country in eighth
grade. He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1983.

Blair played the possessed Regan in The Exorcist (1973) for which she
was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe. In 1977,
she reprised her role in Exorcist II: The Heretic. Before fame, Linda Blair
became a child model at age six, and debuted in The Way We Live Now
(1970).

the longest television career for a female entertainer. She was Sue
Ann Nivens
on Mary Tyler Moore on CBS from 1973 to 1977 and
The Golden Girls on NBC from 1985 to 1992. In 2009, she received
the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award and in May of 2010,
Betty White became the oldest person to host Saturday Night Live
on NBC.
