Herbert "Herb" Alpert is most associated with the group variously known as  
Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass or TJB
. He is also
a recording industry executive — he is the "A" of A&M, a recording label he and
business partner Jerry Moss founded. Herb had five number one hits, twenty-  
eight albums on the Billboard charts, eight Grammy Awards, fourteen Platinum 
albums and fifteen Gold albums.

SHIRLEY JONES, BIRTHDAY 77 TODAY

Shirley-Jones main

Shirley Mae Jones  is a singer and actress of stage, film and television. She
starred in a number of well-known musical films, such as Oklahoma! (1955),
Carousel (1956), and The Music Man (1962). Shirley won the Academy Award
for Best Supporting Actress for playing a prostitute in Elmer Gantry (1960). She
is probably best known as Shirley Partridge, the widowed mother of five children
in the ABC-TV sitcom  series The Partridge Family (1970–1974), co-starring
her real-life stepson David Cassidy, son of Jack Cassidy.

a jazz and pop singer. It sold over one million copies and was awarded a

IRONSIDE DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1967

Ironside is a Universal television series which ran on NBC from September
14, 1967 to January 16, 1975. The show starred Raymond Burr (above) as
the Wheelchair-confined Chief of Detectives, Robert T. Ironside. Burr’s 
character debuted in a made for TV movie. The show earned Burr six
Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations.  

The opening theme music was written by Quincy Jones and was the first
synthesizer-based television theme song.
