”Hotel California" topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for one week in May of
1977 and was soon certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The Eagles also won the 1977 Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the 20th
Annual Grammy Awards in 1978.

"Sugartime" is one of The McGuire Sisters most popular songs. It sold more
than one million copies.

The sisters retired from public appearances In 1968. Their last performance that
year was on the Ed Sullivan Show. Phyllis McGuire continued to perform solo for
a time. The McGuire Sisters have made occasional appearances together.

In 2001, they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Hit Parade
Hall of Fame in 2009. The sisters opened a restaurant in Bradenton, Florida
called McGuire’s Pub.

THE NUMBER-TWO SONG OF 1957

Pat Boone’s cover of “Love Letters in the Sand” became a major hit in
June and July of 1957, spending 5 weeks at number one on the Billboard
Top 100, with 34 weeks total on the chart.. The song was used in Boone’s
film "Bernardine”.He also did the whistling in the instrumental portion of the
song as well.

“Everyday People”, song by Sly & the Family Stone, was the first single by the group
to reach number one on the Soul singles chart and the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single held the Billboard position for four weeks until March 14, 1969. It is one of the most popular songs of the 1960s.

Sly Stone (Sylvester Stewart) will be 69 on March 15th. He was
inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
