Indictment was a courtroom CBS radio drama that aired through 1959. The
series was based on the actual case files of former New York City assistant
District Attorney Eleazar Lipsky. The show starred Nat Polen as Assistant
District Attorney Edward McCormick.

KTLA , channel 5 in Los Angeles, California was the first commercially
licensed television station in the western United States, having begun
operations on January 22, 1947.
The station is owned by the Tribune Broadcasting subsidiary of Tribune
Media.
TV HISTORY MADE ON THIS DAY IN 1953
Sixty-eight percent of all TV sets in the U.S. were tuned to CBS-TV, as
Lucy Ricardo, of "I Love Lucy," gave birth to a baby boy, "Little Ricky".
The episode, "Lucy Goes to the Hospital", had actually been filmed on
November 14, 1952. Twelve hours before the broadcast of the episode,
Lucille Ball, actually gave birth to Desi Arnaz, Jr. by cesarean section.
Desi Arnaz, Jr. (born Desiderio Alberto Arnaz IV) is 62 today.
GENE BENDLER
Eugene L "Gene" Brendler (born April 26, 1927 in Madison,
Wisconsin – Died January 17, 1998)
Pioneer Portland television personality Gene Brendler was probably
best known as the host of KPTV’s ”High Time” from 1956 to 1961. It
a teen-age rock ‘n roll show that was Portland’s version of “American
Bandstand”. He also did the “Northwest Bylines” program along with
public affairs spots for the same station. He also worked as KPTV’s
booth announcer, game show host, news director and public affairs
director. Brendler signed on with the KPTV in 1953, less than a year
after the station went on the air.

NETWORK DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1926
The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) was formed by
by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). It is the oldest
major broadcast network in the United States. The network
began broadcasting with a gala four-hour radio program
originating from the ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel
in New York City.
