


Randall (Randy) Herman Meisner (1946 – 2023)
The Eagles band announced in a Facebook post Thursday,
founding member Randy Meisner is dead. He was 77.
The Eagles band said Meisner died from complications from
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Before joining the Eagles, Randy was a member of Rick
Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band.
He was also the original bass player for country-rock group
Poco in the 60s.

Adam John Walsh, age 6,was abducted from a mall in Hollywood,
Florida, and later found murdered. In the aftermath of the crime,
Adam’s father, John Walsh (below) became a leading victims’
rights activist and host of the long-running television show
America’s Most Wanted (Feb. 7, 1988 – present) on Fox.

On July 24, 1998, the director Steven Spielberg’s World War
II epic, Saving Private Ryan, was released in theaters across
the United States. The film, which starred Tom Hanks and
Matt Damon, was praised for its authentic portrayal of war
and was nominated for 11 Academy Awards. It took home
five Oscars, for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best
Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Sound Effects Editing.
The film’s lengthy opening scene was a bloody re-enactment
of American troops landing at Omaha Beach in Normandy,
France, on June 6, 1944, D-Day.

The 1967 Detroit Riots were among the bloodiest in American
history. The strife occurred during a period of Detroit’s history
when the once-affluent city was struggling economically, and
race relations nationwide were at an all-time low.
