William W. (Bill) Schonely (June 1, 1929 – January 21, 2023) 

Bill Schonely was local sports broadcaster who was the play-
by-play announcer for the
Portland Trail Blazers for almost
three decades, from the team’s launch in 1970 until 1998.

The Trail Blazers organization retired Schonely’s microphone
on November 3, 2003.

In 1999, Schonely was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of
Fame
for Broadcasting.

In 2012, Schonely was awarded the Curt Gowdy Media Award
from the Basketball Hall of Fame.

One of America’s most beloved actresses, Audrey Hepburn,
died in her sleep at home on January 20, 1993, in Lausanne,
Switzerland. The 63-year-old Hepburn had undergone surgery
for colon cancer the previous November.

Recognized as both a film and fashion icon, she was ranked
by the
American Film Institute
as the third-greatest female
screen legend
from the Classical Hollywood cinema and was
inducted into the
International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame.

ROME (AP) — Italian actor Gina Lollobrigida, who achieved
international film stardom during the 1950s and was dubbed
“the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one
her movies, died at a clinic in Rome on Monday. She was 95.

The agent, Paola Comin, didn’t provide details. But Lollobrigida
had surgery in September to repair a thigh bone broken in a fall.

She returned home and said she had quickly resumed walking.
