WW II HERO DIED ON THIS DAY IN 1945

General George S. Patton Jr., an American World War II
hero famed for his battlefield brilliance, unvarnished view
of combat and volatile personality, died in Heidelberg,
Germany, on this day in history, Dec. 21, 1945. He was
60 years old.

Patton was paralyzed in an auto accident on Dec. 9. "Old
Blood and Guts" died in the hospital of a blood clot in his
heart.

Shirley Rose Eikhard (7 November 1955 – 15 December 2022)

(AP) – Shirley Eikhard, the singer-songwriter who penned Bonnie
Raitt’s 1991 hit
‘Something to Talk About,’ has died. She was 67.

Eikhard’s publicist Eric Alper confirmed her death, telling the AP
that she passed away on Thursday due to complications from
cancer at the Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville,
Ontario.

Roger Eugene Maris
(September 10, 1934 – December 14, 1985)

Maris was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1983.

In response, Maris organized the annual Roger Maris
Celebrity Golf Tournament to raise money for cancer
research and treatment.

Maris died of the disease at age 51 at M.D. Anderson Hospital
in
Houston, Texas. He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery
in
Fargo, North Dakota.

Paul Theron Silas (July 12, 1943 – December 11, 2022)


(UPI) – Paul Silas was a College Basketball Hall of Famer
and three-time NBA champion. 

Immediately upon retirement in 1980, Silas began a coaching
career with the San Diego Clippers.
