Jim McKay (James Kenneth McManus)
(September 24, 1921 – June 7, 2008)
McKay was the original host of the sports anthology series
that primarily aired on Saturday afternoons with a succession
of co-hosts beginning in 1987.
In 2007, Wide World of Sports was named by Time Magazine
on its list of the 100 best television programs of all-time.
Mike Wallace, after years working in radio and television, began
hosting The Mike Wallace Interview on ABC. He interviewed many
senators, authors, actresses, politicians and a Klansman. The show
ended in September 1958. Wallace was direct and occasionally he
was confrontational.

The song "A Teenager’s Romance" written by David Gillam reached #2 on
the Billboard Top 100 in 1957. It was ranked #25 on Billboard magazine’s
Top Hot 100 songs of 1957. The records A-side, "I’m Walkin’", reached
#4 on the Billboard chart and #10 on the R&B chart.
Carol Creighton Burnett was born in San Antonio, Texas.
Burnett hosted “The Carol Burnett Show” on CBS from 1967 to 1978
after winning Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Awards for her work in
various genres. Before stardom she worked as an usherette and hat-
check girl while living in a boarding house for women pursuing acting
careers.
In 2013, TV Guide ranked The Carol Burnett Show #17 on their list
of the 60 Greatest Shows of All Time.

Lum and Abner was an NBC Blue network radio comedy program created by
Chester Lauck and Norris Goff (shown above). The popular show aired until
1954, having been heard originally on NBC as well as Mutual, CBS and the
