proclaimed the personal computer “Machine of the Year”. The was the first time
a non-human received the honors since Charles Lindbergh was named in 1927.

            Stephen Valentine Patrick William "Steve" Allen 
                   (December 26, 1921 – October 30, 2000)

Allen is best remembered as the first host of The Tonight Show on
NBC from 1954 to 1957. He innovated the concept of the television
talk show.

Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. (December 24, 1905 – April 5, 1976)

Aviation millionaire Howard Hughes became a movie producer, inventor,
and Las Vegas recluse. He was one of the wealthiest people of his time.
