SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1947

Family-theater

Family Theater is a dramatic anthology radio show which aired on the Mutual Broadcasting System from February 13, 1947 to September 11, 1957. The
show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio 
extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by the Holy Cross Priest,
Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, as a way to promote family prayer. The program
featured not only religious stories but half-hour adaptations of literary works
such as A Tale of Two Cities
,Moby-Dick and Don Quixote. The program had
no commercial sponsor.

starred Kurt Russell, Shelley Winters, and Bing Russell. The movie
aired less than 18 months on ABC after the singer’s shocking death
at the age of 42 and propelled former Disney lead actor Kurt Russell

Dangerous-Assignment-head

Dangerous Assignment debuted over the NBC airwaves on February 6, 1950
and ran until 1953. It starred Brian Donlevy as Steve Mitchell, a globe-trotting 
agent for an unnamed U.S. government agency who investigates cases of
espionage, sabotage and threats to National Security.

by NBC from January 30, 1950 until June 24, 1957. It was one of the top big-
budget “live” anthology series of “The Golden Age of Television”. The show
had several sponsors during its seven-year run, and the title was altered to
feature the sponsor, for example, Robert Montgomery Presents Your Lucky
Strike Theater
, and The Johnson’s Wax Program.

was a courtroom CBS radio drama that aired through 1959. The 
series was based on the actual case files of former New York City assistant
District Attorney Eleazar Lipsky. The show starred Nat Polen as Assistant
District Attorney Edward McCormick.
