RADIO SHOW PREMIERED ON THIS DATE IN 1935

Cavalcade of America
is an anthology drama series that documented historical
events and occasionally presented a musical, such as an adaptation of Show 
Boat
. The show was sponsored by the DuPont Company and debuted on 
Wednesday October 9, 1935 and ran till March 31, 1953. DuPont’s motto,
"Maker of better things for better living through chemistry," was read at the  
beginning of each program. It featured numerous Broadway and Hollywood
stars. The show was also on CBS television from 1952 to 1957.

was written by playwright Eugene O’Neil in 1939. The play
premiered on Broadway at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York on October 9,
1946. It was directed by Eddie Dowling and ran for 136 performances closing
on March 15, 1947.

Kate Elizabeth Winslet is an English actress and occasional singer. She is the
youngest actor to receive six Academy Award nominations, and won a Academy
Award for Best Actress for her role in The Reader (2008). Kate has won a wards
from the Screen Actors Guild, British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the
Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and has been nominated twice for an
Emmy Award for her work in television. Winslet studied drama from childhood,
and began her career in British Television in 1991. She made her film debut
in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994). She is best known for her
leading role in Titanic (1997), the highest grossing film at that time.
