‘’THE WALTONS’’ DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1972

The Waltons is a CBS television series created by Earl Hamner, Jr. It was
based on his book titled Spencer’s Mountain, and on a 1963 film of the
same name. The show originally aired from September 14, 1972 to June
4, 1981. After the series went off the air, three TV movie sequels were
broadcast in 1982 and three more followed in the 1990s.

THE DEBUT OF ‘’LASSIE’’ ON THIS DAY IN 1954

The television series Lassie followed the adventures of a female Collie named
Lassie and her human companions. The show debuted on Sunday, September
12, 1954 and aired till March 24, 1973 on the CBS network. It was one of the
longest running dramatic series on TV, with seventeen seasons before entering
first-run syndication for the final two seasons. Lassie was initially filmed in black
and white, making the transition to color in 1965. It was the created by producer
Robert Maxwell and animal trainer Rudd Weatherwax. In its first years Lassie
won two Emmy Awards and its stars, Jan Clayton and June Lockhart were both
nominated for Emmys.

Ariana Clarice Richards is an actress and professional painter. She is best known
for her portrayals as Lex Murphy in the highly successful Steven Spielberg Sci-fi
film Jurassic Park (1993), and as Carol Wetherby in the 1989 family film Prancer
with Sam Elliott. Richards was born in Healdsburg, California. Her sister, Bethany,
is also and actress. Ariana graduated from Skidmore College in New York State,
earning a degree in Fine Art and Drama. She continued her education with
instruction at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and also attended
Western Oregon University in Monmouth.

“Buddy” Lawrence on the ABC television drama series Family and as
Barbara Weston on the NBC-TV sitcom Empty Nest. She is also the
