MOVIE PREMIERED ON THIS DAY IN 1953

House of Wax was the first color 3-D feature from a major studio and premiered
just two days after the Columbia Pictures film Man in the Dark, the first major-
studio black-and-white 3-D feature. It was also the first 3-D film with stereophonic
sound to be presented in a regular movie theater. It premiered nationwide on
April 10, 1953 and went out for a general release on April 25, 1953.

ACTOR RICHARD DYSART IS DEAD AT 86

Richard A. Dysart (March 30, 1929 – April 5, 2015)

(AP) – Richard Dysart, a veteran stage and screen actor who played senior
partner Leland McKenzie in the long-running TV courtroom drama "L.A. Law,"
(1986-1994), has died after a long illness. He earned one Emmy Award, and
three more nominations, for his role on “L.A. Law”.

Dysart died Sunday at his home in Santa Monica, California, according to his
daughter-in-law Jeannine Jacobi.

He created the Broadway role of the Coach in "That Championship Season,"
for which he won a Drama Desk Award in 1972, and his many film appearances
included Clint Eastwood’s "Pale Rider" (1985) and John Carpenter’s "The Thing”
(1982).

George Richard Chamberlain was born in Beverly Hills, California.

Chamberlain starred on Dr. Kildare on NBC (1961 – 1966). The role
earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor
in a Motion Picture Made for Television. Since then, he has appeared
in several mini-series such as The Thorn Birds on ABC (1983), many
successful films, performed classical stage roles and worked in the
musical theatre.

starred Kurt Russell, Shelley Winters, and Bing Russell. The movie
aired less than 18 months on ABC after the singer’s shocking death
at the age of 42 and propelled former Disney lead actor Kurt Russell
