MONTY HALL IS 94 TODAY

Monty Hall (born Monte Halparin in Winnipeg, Manitoba)

Hall was host of the game show Let’s Make a Deal (NBC/ABC) for 23
years. He received the Order of Canada honor and a Golden Palm
Star for his humanitarian work. Hall graduated with a Bachelor of
Science
degree from the University of Manitoba, where he majored
in chemistry and zoology.

On October 13, 2007, Monty Hall was one of the first inductees into
the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame
in Las Vegas, Nevada. He
received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Daytime Emmy
Awards

GAME SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1952

The original CBS-TV version of I’ve Got a Secret premiered on June 19, 1952 and
ran until April 3, 1967. This version began broadcasting in black and white and
switched to a color format in 1966. The show was originally hosted by radio and television personality Garry Moore.

GAME SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1964

The original daytime version of Jeopardy! debuted on NBC television in March of
1964 and aired until January 3, 1975. The general knowledge game show was
created by Merv Griffin with Art Fleming (above) as the original host.

SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1940

Truth or Consequences,
a mix of game show elements with wacky stunts,
was originally hosted on NBC radio by Ralph Edwards (above) from 1940
to 1957. The popular daily syndicated show was produced by Ralph
Edwards Productions. Sponsors included Duz soap, as well as Ivory
soap, Philip Morris, and Pet Milk. Truth or Consequences made its TV
debut on CBS in 1950.
