Wilson Pickett (March 18, 1941 – January 19, 2006)

This song was composed by Pickett and Steve Cropper at the historic Lorraine
Motel in Memphis where Martin Luther King, Jr. would later be murdered in April
1968. Pickett’s first hit on Atlantic Records, it reached #1 on the R&B charts and
peaked at #21 on the pop charts.

       Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives (June 14, 1909 – April 14, 1995)

Ives recorded "A Little Bitty Tear" and was responsible for Christmas
standards like "Holly Jolly Christmas”, featured in the 1964 CBS-TV
presentation of the stop-motion animated family special Rudolph the
Red-Nosed
Reindeer
.

Ives expanded his appearances in films between the 1950s and the
1960s with such films as The Big Country in 1958, for which he won
an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Burl Ives died from complications of oral cancer at the age of 85, at
his home in Anacortes, Washington.
