BABY JESSICA WAS RESCUED ON THIS DAY

Jessica McClure Morales (born March 26, 1986; widely
known as "Baby Jessica" in 1987) fell into a
well in her
aunt’s backyard in
Midland, Texas, on October 14, 1987,
at the age of 18 months.

Rescuers kept Jessica’s spirits up by getting her to sing
about Winnie the Pooh.

Jessica Morales, now age 36, lives with her husband,
Danny, and two kids, Simon and Sheyenne three miles

Tony Martin (Alvin Morris) (December 25, 1913 – July 27, 2012)


Martin’s career spanned over seven decades, and he scored dozens
of hits between the late-1930s and mid-1950s with songs such as
"
Walk Hand in Hand", "I Love Paris", "Stranger in Paradise" and
"
I Get Ideas".

In 1958, he became the highest paid performer in Las Vegas, signing
a five-year deal at the
Desert Inn, earning $25,000 a week.

In an unlikely pairing, Martin recorded for the Motown Records label
in the mid-1960s, scoring a minor hit with the record "Talkin’ To Your Picture".

Paul Coker Jr. (March 5, 1929 – July 23, 2022)

The animation industry has lost another prolific artist. Paul
Coker Jr., a cartoonist and designer whose career spanned
nearly five decades, passed away on Saturday, July 23 at his
home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Coker’s first appearance in Mad was in 1961; and went on to illustrate
over 375 articles for the magazine.
