FROM PDX RETRO ~

George Washington was born Feb. 22, 1732 –  or Feb. 11 according to the old
style calendar in use in the British Colony of Virginia at the time.

Abraham Lincoln was born Feb. 12, 1809. But for decades, the two dates have
been celebrated together on the third Monday of February as Presidents Day. The
legal name for the holiday remains Washington’s Birthday.
