The independent horror film Night of the Living Dead was directed by George
A. Romero and starred Duane Jones and Judith O’Dea. It was completed on
a $114,000 budget and became a financial success, grossing $12 million
domestically and $18 million internationally. The film has been a cult classic
ever since. Night of the Living Dead has been selected by the Library of
Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry, as a film deemed

The Red Skelton Show was a television staple for two decades, from 1951 to
1971. The variety show was second to Gunsmoke (1955–1975) and third to
The Ed Sullivan Show (1948–1971) in the ratings during that time. The host
of the show, Richard Bernard "Red" Skelton, who had previously been a radio
star, had appeared in several motion pictures as well. The series began and
ended on NBC. During its run, the show received three Emmy Awards, for
Skelton as best comedian and the program as best comedy show during its
initial season, and an award for comedy writing in 1961. In 1959 Skelton also
received a Golden Globe for Best TV Show.

Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot
French actress Brigitte Bardot, one of the best known sex symbols of the
1950s and ’60s, starred in a number of films. She was nominated for a
BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Actress for her role in the 1965 film Viva
Maria! She studied ballet for three years at the Conservatoire de Paris, in
hopes of becoming a professional. Bardot established the Brigitte Bardot
Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals after her retirement
in 1973.
