POPULAR CHARACTER ACTOR IS DEAD AT 90

(AP)–Gervase Duan "G.D." Spradlin, a former lawyer and oil producer who found a second act as a prolific character actor playing authority figures in such films as "Apocalypse Now” and "The Godfather: Part II," has died. He was 90.

His grandson Justin Demko told the Los Angeles Times Monday that Spradlin died
of natural causes Sunday at his San Luis Obispo ranch in Central California.

Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger is an English musician, singer-songwriter,
has acted in several films and is a producer. He is best known as the lead
vocalist of the rock band The Rolling Stones. Jagger’s career has spanned
over 50 years and has been described as “one of the most popular and
influential front men in the history of rock & roll.

 

The song "(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction" was written by Mick Jagger
and Keith Richards. It is considered to be one of the all-time great
rock songs. In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine placed "Satisfaction"
in the second spot on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All
Time and it was added to the Library of Congress National
Recording Registry in 2006.

Estelle Scher-Gettleman, better known by her Stage name Estelle Getty,
appeared in film, theater and television. She is best known for playing
Sophia Petrillo on the NBC sitcom The Golden Girls from 1985 to
1992. Estelle  won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role on
the popular show.

REMEMBERING WALTER BRENNAN

                (July 25, 1894 – September 21, 1974)

Walter Brennan won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor three
times and is tied with Jack Nicholson for the most Academy Award wins for
a male actor. Film historians and critics have long regarded Brennan as
one of the finest character actors in motion picture history. Brennan is
best remembered From 1957-1963, when he starred in the ABC-TV
series The Real McCoys, which costarred Richard Crenna and Kathleen
Nolan. The series ran on ABC from 1957 to 1962 before switching to CBS
for a final season as The McCoys.

as the backing choir over Brennan’s recitation of the refrain, became a top
