Kathy Bates is a actress and director who, after several small roles in film
and television, rose to prominence with her performance in Misery (1990),
for which she won both the Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden
Globe. She followed this with major roles in Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)
and Dolores Claiborne (1995), before playing a featured role as Margaret
“Molly” Brown in Titanic (1997). During this time, she began her directing
career, primarily in television.

Bates received a Tony Award nomination for her 1983 performance in the
Broadway play ‘night, Mother. She won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her
performance in Primary Colors (1998), along with an Oscar nomination for
Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for an Academy Award
for Best Supporting Actress for About Schmidt (2002). Her television work
has resulted in eight Emmy Award nominations.

mysteries, notably alongside Humphrey Bogart and Sydney Greenstreet, and

PETER FALK ~ DEAD AT 83

(AP)-Legendary television actor Peter Falk, who was best known for his role as a squinty, rumpled detective in the hit series "Columbo," has died at the age of 83.

Falk died Thursday night at his Beverly Hills home, according to a statement released by family friend Larry Larson.

A cause of death has not been released.

In 2008, his daughter Catherine Falk, said he had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Falk won four Emmys for his starring role in "Columbo," a show on which he appeared in 69 episodes.

"Columbo" began its history in 1971 as part of the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie series, appearing every third week. "Columbo" became by far the most popular of the three mysteries, the others being "McCloud" and "McMillan and Wife."

Michele Lee

Michele Lee is a singer, dancer, actress, producer/director and was a
frequent game show panelist of the the 1970s. She is best-known for
her role as Karen Cooper Fairgate MacKenzie on the CBS prime-time
soap series, Knots Landing (1979-1993). Michele was nominated for
an Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy in 1982 for her role in the TV
series. She also co-starred with Dean jones in the 1968 Disney film,
The Love Bug.
