‘’RECORD FOUND FREE OF OBSCENITIES’’

Shortly after it’s release in 1963, rumors began circulating alleging the lyrics
of the song “Louie, Louie” were laced with a profane depiction of sexuality
between a sailor and his girl. The groups singer Jack Ely had just had his
braces tightened, thus muffling some of the words, making them sound
unintelligible. The song was banned on many radio stations across the
country, but a lengthy investigation by the FBI concluded they were
“unable to interpret any of the wording in the record.”

When you called Portland’s 911 in the past, they transferred you to the Portland Fire
Alarm Telegraph dispatch center on NE 21st Ave near the I-84 overpass. The building
(shown below) is now the sales office for Sunshine Dairy.
