Fire destroyed the structure on August 17, 1964.

A new “World Forestry Center” opened to the public on June 5,1971.
The center is located near the Portland Zoo in Washington Park.

THOSE WERE THE DAY’S!

Another Portland celebrity that should be mentioned  is Sally
Struthers. She was born on July 28,1948 and attended Grant
High School. Sally’s best known as Gloria Bunker Stivic on the
1970’s sitcom,ALL IN THE FAMILY. The original show was aired
on CBS from January,1971 to April,1979. In September of 1979 it
was given a new look and name, ARCHIE BUNKER’S PLACE.This
version of the show ran till 1983.
