RECORD RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1977

The song "Cold as Ice" by British-American rock band Foreigner became
one of the best known songs of the band in the U.S., peaking at number
6 in the Billboard Hot 100. It was initially the B-side of some versions of the
"Feels Like the First Time" 45 rpm single.

RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1963

The "Surfer Girl" single backed with "Little Deuce Coupe"  entered the
Billboard chart on August 3 and it would then hit the Top 40 on August
17 at the number 28 position. After the single had been on the charts
for six weeks it peaked at number 7 on September 14, 1963. It placed
at number 5, for three weeks in Cash Box. The single also peaked on
the Billboard R & B chart at number 18 in September 1963.

SONG RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1975

The song “Dance With Me” become Orleans’ first Top 40 single, reaching a
Billboard Hot 100 peak of #6 that October.

SINGLE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1974

The song "Sweet Home Alabama" by the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd
reached #8 on the charts in 1974 and was the band’s second hit single. The
song was written in reply to "Southern Man" and "Alabama" by Neil Young;
