The song “Dance, Dance, Dance" marks Carl Wilson’s first recognized
writing contribution to a Beach Boys single with his primary guitar riff
and solo.
“Great Balls of Fire” was recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis at Sun Records
in Memphis, Tennessee. It reached #2 on the Billboard pop charts, #3
on the R&B charts, and #1 on the country charts. It was ranked as the
96th greatest song ever by Rolling Stone and sold one million copies
in its first 10 days of release in the United States and would go on to
sell over 5 million copies, making it both one of the best-selling singles
in the United States as well as one of the world’s best-selling singles
of all time.

Jerry Lee Lewis turned 78 on September 29.
“Baby It’s You” became very popular, becoming number three on the
R&B chart and peaking at number eight on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The Kingsmen, who recorded “Louie, Louie” in 1963, will play at the Aladdin Theater
at 7 p.m. this evening for the induction ceremony for the 2013 class of the Oregon
Music Hall of Fame. The Kingsmen were inducted in 2007.
