RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1941

The song “Green Eyes” was recorded by the Jimmy Dorsey orchestra with
vocals by Helen O’Connell and Bob Eberly and released by Decca Records
with the flip side "Maria Elena." The record first reached the Billboard charts
on May 9, 1941 and lasted 21 weeks on the chart, peaking at #1.

BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1919


Nat King Cole (Nathaniel Adams Coles
(March 17, 1919 – February 15, 1965)


After listening to Earl Hines, Nat was inspired to call
himself Nat King. One of his first groups was called
the Nat Cole Swingers. He was one of the first African
Americans to have his own TV show when he became
host on The Nat King Cole Show in 1956 on NBC.

Recorded by Nat King Cole on December 28, 1956. It was 
released by Capitol Records on the LP Love Is the Thing.
