LAST GEMINI FLIGHT ON THIS DAY IN 1966

The Gemini 12 mission was a manned spaceflight launched on November 11,
1966 as the concluding mission of NASA’s Gemini program. The objectives
were to dock with the Agena target vehicle and conduct three spacewalks. The
mission included conducting 14 scientific experiments and taking pictures of  
the total eclipse over South America. Gemini 12 returned to earth on the 15th
of November.

UNMANNED APOLLO FLIGHT ON THIS DAY IN 1967

The unmanned Saturn/Apollo 4 (AS-501) mission was the first unmanned test flight of the three stage Saturn V rocket. It carried a payload of an Apollo Command and Service Module (CSM) into Earth orbit.

Three years after bringing science fiction to the world of comic strips, Buck
Rogers in the 25th Century
was brought to CBS radio on November 7, 1932. It
Originally aired from New York and broadcast four times weekly, initially at 7:15
P.M. and later moved to an earlier "children’s hour". Actors Matt Crowley and
Carl Frank (above) along with Curtis Arnall and John Larkin all voiced Buck
Rogers at various times. The beautiful and strong-willed Wilma Deering was
portrayed by Adele Ronson, and the brilliant scientist-inventor Dr. Huer
was played by Edgar Stehli.

SPACE PROBE LAUNCHED ON THIS DAY IN 1973

Mariner 10 was a robotic space probe launched by NASA on Saturday November 3,
1973, to fly by the planets Mercury and Venus. The objectives were to measure
surface, atmosphere, environment, and atmospheric characteristics of both
planets. It was launched approximately two years after Mariner 9 and was the
last spacecraft in the Mariner program.

APOLLO SPLASH DOWN ON THIS DAY IN 1968

October 22, 1968, Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission splashed down during 
a rainstorm in the Atlantic 200 nautical miles SSW of Bermuda, close to the planned  
impact point and 8 miles north of the recovery ship.The tired, but happy crew was 
picked up by helicopter and taken to the U.S.S. Essex. The Apollo 7 Capsule is  
currently on display at the Frontiers of Flight Museum located next to Love
Field in Dallas Texas.
