The flight of Gemini 12 ended successfully as astronauts James A. Lovell
and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. splashed down safely in the Atlantic Ocean.

Apollo 12 was the sixth manned flight in the U.S. Apollo program and the
second to land on the Moon. It was launched from the Kennedy Space
Center, Florida, four months after Apollo 11. Mission commander Charles
"Pete" Conrad and Lunar Module Pilot Alan L. Bean performed just over
one day and seven hours of lunar surface activity while Command Module
Pilot Richard F. Gordon remained in lunar orbit. The landing site for the
mission was located in the southeastern portion of the Ocean of Storms.

Apollo 7 was the first manned Apollo mission and the first in which live television broadcasts were received from orbit.

Jerry Lee Lewis (The Killer) is 81 years old today.
Lewis was expelled from Southwest Bible Institute for playing
what they termed "devil’s music." He played music in Natchez,
Mississippi to make a living. Jerry Lee Lewis has been described
as "rock & roll’s first great wild man and is the last living member
of the Sun Records Million Dollar Quartet (below).
Released in November of 1957, this is one of the best-selling singles in the United States, as well as one of the world’s best-
selling singles of all time.
