"Everyday People" by Sly and the Family Stone was the first
single by the band to go to number one on the Soul singles
chart and the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It held that position, on
the Hot 100, for four weeks from February 15 to March 14,
1969, and is remembered as a popular song of the 1960s
being ranked by Billboard as the No. 5 song of 1969.

Motown Records founder Berry Gordy Jr. is known for his production and
songwriting work with The Supremes and Stevie Wonder. He also worked
with The Jackson 5, The Four Tops, and Marvin Gaye. He dropped out of
high school and trained to be a professional boxer.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is an annual event presented by the
department store chain Macy’s. The tradition started in 1924. Live animals
were borrowed from the Central Park Zoo to entertain the crowd at that first
parade, but were replaced with the giant balloons in 1927. Pictured above,

The three-hour Macy’s parade is held in New York City starting at 9:00 a.m.
EST and has been televised nationally on the NBC-TV network since 1952.

John H. Schnatter was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Schnatter is founder, spokesman, and CEO of the pizza company Papa Johns,
which he founded in 1984. He invested in pizza-making equipment by selling
his 1972 Camaro Z28 (shown below).

Goldie Jeanne Hawn was born in Washington, D.C.

Goldie Hawn is an actress, director, producer, and occasional
singer, who rose to fame on NBC television’s Rowan & Martin’s
Laugh-In (1968–70). She won the Academy Award for Best
Supporting Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best
Supporting Actress for the 1969 film, Cactus Flower. Goldie
is the mother of fellow actress Kate Hudson.
