OCEAN LINER SANK ON THIS DAY IN 1912

Drowned in guilt and sorrow | The Sunday Times

At 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, the British ocean liner Titanic
sank into the North Atlantic Ocean
about 400 miles south of
Newfoundland, Canada. The massive ship, which carried
2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg two and
half hours before.

The iceberg thought to have been hit by Titanic, it was          
reported to have a streak of red paint from a ships hull
along it s waterline on one side.

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that set sail from
Southampton on this day in 1912. It
sank in the North Atlantic
Ocean
after colliding with an iceberg four days into her maiden
voyage
to New York City. Of the estimated 2,224 passengers and 
crew
aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it one of modern
history’s deadliest commercial marine disasters during
peacetime.
