Tonight Starring Steve Allen was a talk show hosted by
Steve Allen. It was the first version of what eventually
became known  as The Tonight Show. Tonight was the
first late-night talk show, as well as the first late night
television series of any kind to achieve long-term
success. Allen’s run as host of the show lasted for
two and a half seasons, beginning in fall 1954 and
ending with Allen’s departure in January 1957.

Robert William Barker (December 12, 1923 – August 26, 2023)

Bob Barker, longtime game show host for "The Price is
Right" has died. He also hosted Truth or Consequences
from 1956 to 1975. He was 99.

David Jacobs, creator of such classic soap opera series as
"Knots Landing" and "Dallas," has died. He was 84.

Jacobs died of heart failure and suffered from several health
issues leading up to his death, including a battle with
Alzheimer’s and kidney problems.

Rodman (Rod) Edward Serling
(December 25, 1924 – June 28, 1975)

Serling was a screenwriter, playwright, television producer,
and narrator/on-screen host.

The first series, shot entirely in black-and-white, ran on CBS
for five seasons from 1959 to 1964.

TV Guide ranked the original TV series #5 in their 2013 list
of the 60 greatest shows of all time and #4 in their list of
the 60 greatest dramas.
