NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1960
"Theme From A Summer Place" by Percy Faith began its nine
week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It remains the
longest-running number-one instrumental in the history of
the chart and brought Faith a Grammy Award for Record of
the Year in 1961.
COACH BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1925
John Travilla "Jack" Ramsay (February 21, 1925 – April 28, 2014)
Jack Ramsay, also known as “Dr. Jack”, coached the 1977 Portland
Trailblazers to an NBA title. He was among the most respected coaches
in NBA history, winning 864 games during his career. Ramsay is honored
in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
GROUPS TV DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1970
Michael Jackson and his brothers, The Jackson 5 made their TV debut
when they appeared on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand.
“KEEP ON DANCING”
“Keep on Dancing" reached #4 in 1965 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart
for two weeks. It surpassed a million copies in sales after leaving the
charts.
