In May 1955,  Marilyn Monroe started dating playwright Arthur Miller (above). The
relationship between Monroe and Miller began to develop, and although the couple
were able to maintain their privacy for almost a year, the press began to write about
them as a couple, often referred to as "The Egghead and The Hourglass".They were
soon married on June 29, 1956. After a stormy marriage, Marilyn divorced Miller,
citing “incompatibility of character”.  The divorce was finalized in January 1961.

Shortly before Christmas 1966, more than seven years since they first met, Elvis Presley proposed to Priscilla Beaulieu. They were married on May 1, 1967, in a brief ceremony
in their suite at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.
