Five-time Oscar-winning composer John Barry, who wrote music for a dozen James Bond films, including "You Only Live Twice" and "Goldfinger" and developed the twanging guitar riff in the suave spy’s theme music, has died. He was 77.

Barry died in New York, where he had lived for some time, on Sunday, his family said. The family did not release the cause of death.(AP)

SINGER CHARLIE LOUVIN ~ DEAD AT 83

Charlie Louvin, half of the Louvin Brothers whose harmonies inspired fellow country and pop singers for decades, has died due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 83. Brett Steele, his manager, said the country music hall of fame singer died at his home in Wartrace, Tennessee, early Wednesday. Louvin was diagnosed with cancer last year and underwent surgery, but continued to schedule performances and even put out an album. He was one of several stars invited to a welcome home performance of the Grand Ole Opry last year after floods damaged the Opry house. The Louvin Brothers were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001 and were cousins of songwriter John D. Loudermilk. (AP)

JACK LALANNE IS DEAD AT 96

MORRO BAY, Calif. (AP) — Jack LaLanne, the fitness guru who inspired television viewers to trim down and pump iron for decades before exercise became a national obsession, died Sunday. He was 96.

LaLanne died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia Sunday afternoon at his home in Morro Bay on California’s central coast, his longtime agent Rick Hersh said.

Lalanne ate healthy and exercised every day of his life up until the end, Hersh said.

PROMOTER DON KIRSHNER DEAD AT 77

    A business associate says rock promoter Don Kirshner has died of heart failure at a Florida hospital at age 77.

    Promoter Jack Wishna tells The Associated Press in Las Vegas that the man Time magazine once dubbed the "Man With the Golden Ear" died Monday at a Boca Raton hospital where he was being treated for an infection.

    Wishna calls Kirshner an icon who touched many lives in the music industry.

    Kirshner was behind the TV show "Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert" in 1972, and gave national exposure to many musicians. (AP)

    DAVID NELSON IS DEAD AT 74

    LOS ANGELES — David Nelson, who starred on his parents’ popular television show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," died Tuesday, a family spokesman said. He was 74.

    Nelson died at his home in the Century City area of Los Angeles after battling complications of colon cancer, said family spokesman and longtime Hollywood publicist Dale Olson.

    Nelson was the last remaining member of the Nelsons TV family, which included actor/bandleader Ozzie, his singer wife, Harriet Hilliard and his teen idol brother Rick. (AP)
