Kurt Russell’s first acting roles were as a child in television such as the lead role in
the western series The Travels of Jamie McPheeters (1963–1964). In the 1970s he signed a ten-year contract with the Walt Disney company, where he became the
studio’s top star of the ’70s. In 1979, Russell was nominated for an Emmy Award for
the made-for-television film Elvis. In 1983, he was nominated for a Golden Globe
Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for
his performance in the 1984 film, Silkwood. During the 1980s, Russell was cast in
several films by director John Carpenter–in the futuristic action film Escape From New York, the horror film The Thing (1982), and the dark comedy/action film Big Trouble in Little China (1986). In 1994, he had a starring role in the military/science fiction film Stargate.

Jerry Lewis is a veteran comedian, actor, film producer, screenwriter, film director
and singer. He is best-known for his slapstick humor in screen, television, stage
and radio. He was originally paired with Dean Martin in 1946, forming the famed
comedy team of Martin and Lewis (shown below). In addition to the duo’s popular nightclub work, they starred in a successful series of comedy films. Lewis is also
known for his charity fund-raising telethons and position as national chairman for
the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Lewis has won several awards for
lifetime achievements and In 2005, he received the Governors Award of the
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Board of Governors, which is the
highest Emmy Award presented.
FIRST BROADWAY PRODUCTION ON TV ~ THIS DATE IN 1955
NBC-TV presented Peter Pan live as part of Producers’ Showcase,with
the show’s original cast, as the first full-length Broadway production on
color TV. The show attracted a record audience of 65-million viewers
viewers. Mary Martin ( above) and Cyril Ritchard (below) had already
won Tony Awards for their stage performances, and Martin won an
Emmy Award for the television production.

Alan Alda ,an actor, director and screenwriter is a five-time Emmy Award and six-time Golden Globe Award winner. He is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce ( above)
in the TV series M*A*S*H on CBS from September 17, 1972 to February 28, 1983. He was nominated for 21 Emmy Awards, and won five. He took part in writing 19 episodes, including the finale, and directed 32. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Stony Brook University School of Journalism.
