Buddy Holly’s funeral was held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in his hometown of 
Lubbock,Texas.The service was officiated by Ben D. Johnson, who had presided at 
the Hollys’ wedding just months earlier. Among the pallbearers was Phil Everly.The
body was interred in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Holly’s headstone carries the
correct spelling of his surname (Holley).

Don Everly, on the right, with his younger brother, Phil (The Everly Brothers)
were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and elected to the 
Country Music Hall of Fame in 1986.
