Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company, astonished
the business world when he introduced a $5 per day minimum
wage to qualified workers. It was more than double the rate of
most of Ford’s employees. The move proved to be extremely
         Profitable and raised productivity.

It was on this date in 1959 when the Ford Motor
Co. announced it was halting production on
the unpopular Edsel. The car sold poorly and
the company lost millions on the development,
manufacture, and marketing. Model years were
from 1958 to 1960 with only 118,287 unites built.
The Edsel was named after Henry Ford’s son who
was President of the Ford Motor co. from 1919 until
his death in 1943 at the age of 49.
