Jerry Lewis is a veteran comedian, actor, film producer, screenwriter, film director
and singer. He is best-known for his slapstick humor in screen, television, stage
and radio. He was originally paired with Dean Martin in 1946, forming the famed
comedy team of Martin and Lewis (shown below). In addition to the duo’s popular nightclub work, they starred in a successful series of comedy films. Lewis is also
known for his charity fund-raising telethons and position as national chairman for
the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Lewis has won several awards for
lifetime achievements and In 2005, he received the Governors Award of the
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Board of Governors, which is the
highest Emmy Award presented.

American Hot Wax is a 1978 biopic film telling the story of Cleveland, Ohio DJ
Alan Freed (shown below), who was instrumental in introducing and popularizing
rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s. Freed is credited with coining the term “rock ‘n’ roll”.The
film starred Tim McIntire (above) as Freed, with Laraine Newman, Fran Drescher,
and Jay Leno in supporting roles.The movie also featured performances by Chuck
Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Frankie Ford. The film was never officially released on
VHS or DVD.

Actor Burt Reynolds is most noted for his roles as Bo ‘Bandit’ Darville in Smokey and the
Bandit (1977), Lewis Medlock in Deliverance (1972), and as Paul Crew in The Longest Yard (1974. He is one of America’s most recognizable film and television personalities with more than 90 feature film and 300 television episode credits.

SHARI LEWIS WAS BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1933
Shari Lewis was a ventriloquist/puppeteer and children’s TV show
host during the 1960’s and 1990’s. She’s best known as the original
puppeteer of Lamb Chop (seen above). Shari received numerous
awards including twelve Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award. Her
career began in 1952 when she won first prize for her puppetry on
Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts TV show. Shari died of cancer on
August 2, 1998.
FAMED ACTOR DIES AT 64
Pete Postlethwaite died Sunday following a long
battle with cancer. He was a veteren of the Royal
Shakespeare Company along with other acting
companies. Steven Spielberg once called Pete
”the best actor in the world” after working
with him on The Lost World: Jurassic Park
(1997). Postlethwaite was nominated for an
Oscar for his role in In The Name of the
Father (1993).
